Visitor Visa

Most travelers need a visitor visa to travel to Canada unless you are from a visa exempt country. You may also need a visitor visa if you are transiting through Canadian airport on to your final destination.

 

Generally, with a visitor visa you can stay up to 6 months, at port of entry border services officer can put a date in your passport which can be less or more than 6 months. You must leave Canada by that date. Officer can give you a visitor record which will have a date you need to leave Canada by.

 

Most likely you will need give biometrics (fingerprints and photo taken) if you are between 14 to 79 years old. You need to give your biometrics once every 10 years to make repeat trips to Canada.

 

Processing time of visitor visa varies based on:

  • Type of application submitted

  • Completeness of the application

  • Ease to verify the information

  • How long you take to respond to any requests or concerns
